A woman was injured this Monday, December 15, after falling on one of the mountains in the Los Ajaches massif, in the municipality of Yaiza, presenting a possible ankle fracture. The alert was received around 3:00 PM through CECOES 1-1-2, which activated the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium.
According to the Consortium itself, the injured woman was near the summit of the mountain, accompanied by her husband and the person who raised the alarm. Given the difficulty of the terrain, a helicopter was initially requested for aerial evacuation. However, both the woman and her companion rejected this means of rescue, so the aerial device was ultimately canceled.
The responding officers then proceeded to immobilize the injured ankle and transfer the injured person on a rescue stretcher to an all-terrain vehicle. From there, she was evacuated by land to an ambulance located at the entrance to Papagayo, where she was handed over to the medical services.
She was later transferred by ambulance to Molina Orosa.
