Report incidents with dogs that their owners let out to "walk themselves" alone through Yaiza

"They not only pee and poop wherever they want, but they also go out to bark and bite dogs that are with their owners, or even at people's feet," says a man, who says he has called the Police "three times" and they do not come.

Stray dogs in Yaiza

A resident of Yaiza has contacted La Voz to report that there are people who "usually let their dogs out to walk themselves while they are behind closed doors in their houses" or who "take the dogs to work so that they are in the same conditions, outside doing whatever they want."

"They not only pee and poop wherever they want, but they also go out to bark and bite dogs that are with their owners, or even at people's feet, in this case because they are two very small breed dogs," says this citizen, who has sent some images in which two dogs are seen loose on the streets.

"As you can see, if the person turns around and confronts them, they back down, but in the town there are elderly people and children who don't have to be aware of whether I walk here or there depending on whether the dogs are there or not because their owners decide that that part of the town belongs to them," he adds.

This man says that he has spoken several times with the owner "in a good way" and that he has also called the Local Police "three times", but the situation remains the same. And he assures that the response he gets from the officers is that, for them to attend to cases like this, "the dogs have to be tied up."

"If I understand correctly, the Yaiza City Council has an animal protection area. And if a resident calls the Police for a case like this, the Police together with that area will have to see what happens and solve it, not answer the citizen to do their job and then go when the dogs are tied up," complains this resident, who wonders what would happen if he released "a Canarian catch dog to do its business and walk alone throughout the town."

Are they going to come and call my attention? Or if a citizen calls saying that there is a pitbull and a stanford that attack people who pass by (being unfair to these breeds, because in my opinion they are only dangerous because of bad owners), are they also going to answer that they should tie them up so that they can come later?", he concludes.
