The National Police have arrested five young people in Arrecife, between 21 and 27 years old, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of injury, after their participation in a riotous fight that occurred during the early morning of June 29.
The events took place in a busy area of bars and nightclubs in the capital of the island, coinciding with the closing time of the premises. The fight, in which numerous people were involved, left a balance of three people seriously injured.
According to police sources, alcohol consumption and possible previous disagreements could be behind the trigger of the altercation, which had a wide media impact on the island after the dissemination of several videos of the event on social networks and media.
Thanks to citizen collaboration and the audiovisual material collected, the agents managed to identify, locate and arrest the main aggressors. The investigation, however, remains open and further arrests are not ruled out in the coming days.
Given the increase in incidents similar to those at the exit of leisure venues in the area, the National Police has intensified prevention devices, which are already giving visible results.
The five arrested were placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority after the instruction of the corresponding proceedings.
