A reader has contacted La Voz de Lanzarote to report that Canal Gestión prevents her from requesting “the splitting of a debt” corresponding to this year, something that is denied “because she is not the owner of the meter”, since it is in the name of her mother, who recently passed away.
The woman has thus entered a spiral, since she cannot negotiate the splitting of the payment because she is not the owner, but she is also not allowed to change the name of the owner if she does not pay the debt first.
In addition, the reader adds that this situation is aggravated by having other pending invoices from last year, which amount to a total of 1,637 euros, with an invoice from September of 620 euros and in December of 804 euros, which she says come “from a breakdown” that she thought she had solved “in July of last year”.
“I can no longer request a reduction for breakdown of last year's invoices”, says this reader, who does ask to be able to split this year's invoice, corresponding to February, which amounts to 450 euros. However, since the meter is not yet in her name, the request is denied, and on August 23 she already received a notice of supply cut. “They are claiming a debt of 1,637 euros without the possibility of splitting it, they cut off my water and I have two children”, she says.
