The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León (Popular Party), on Thursday morning on the morning show Buenos días, Lanzarote on Onda Cero- Radio Lanzarote to respond to the investigation that the Arrecife Prosecutor's Office has opened into the contracts of the council for different parties held in the capital, such as Navilan 2023, Carnivals and the April Fair, both in 2024.

For the moment, the Public Prosecutor's Office has given the council ten days to submit all information relating to these three files. "We have tasked the workers with this information request so that we can forward it to the Prosecutor's Office as soon as possible," de León reported. "All public institutions must be at the disposal not only of the Prosecutor's Office but of any body or entity," he added.

Despite being aware of the Prosecutor's investigation, the mayor has insisted that he feels "total tranquility" and that he trusts "all municipal workers, both in the Audit Department, as well as in the Secretariat and Legal Counsel.""It is important to always show transparency," insisted de León, who justified that although the Prosecutor's Office has requested documentation on **different contracting files**, "it does not mean that there is any investigation open, but rather that as a result of the complaint, all information is requested." However, the Public Ministry has indeed opened an investigation, which is in its preliminary phase.

The PSOE denies having filed the complaint

When questioned about who might have filed the complaint regarding these three contracts, Yonathan de León stated: "I can guess. The Socialist Party has been saying every day for many months that they were going to the Prosecutor's Office."However, the socialist Alfredo Mendoza, who also spoke on the program *Buenos días, Lanzarote* this Thursday morning, stated that "the PSOE is not behind this complaint in this case," but that he finds it "worrying.""There are many people angry with the City Council, there are people who have not been able to collect their invoices for a long time, they have had to go to court to collect the invoice, and that is the usual procedure in many cases," Mendoza stated."After all we've heard over these two years of Yonathan de León's administration, no one is hiding the fact that this could be happening," the socialist insisted.
