A 45-year-old citizen and resident of Teguise died last weekend in her home. However, two days after her relatives found her lifeless body in her home, she has not yet been buried. One of her cousins has expressed her outrage at the situation and has denounced the case to ask those responsible to provide a solution.

"We had been told that they would perform the autopsy this Monday, after the coroner finished with another body. Then they told me at 9:00 in the morning that there was no material," a citizen told La Voz. After the problems to perform the autopsy on Sunday, they were asked to wait until this Tuesday.

However, at 1:00 p.m. she received a call from the funeral home informing her that they would not perform the autopsy today either, and therefore, they could not prepare the body for the wake. "I know people and I was able to find out that they have not done the autopsy because there is no formaldehyde in Lanzarote and because the coroner's assistant was in Gran Canaria," she denounced in statements to this editorial staff.

"There are first, second and third class citizens and we live in Lanzarote, but I have discussed it with politicians and I know that the same thing would not happen to them if they were a relative of the president of the Cabildo or the mayors," she stressed angrily. This situation prevents the family of the deceased from closing a circle and has forced people to mobilize from other islands to attend a funeral that has not yet been able to take place.

It is not the first time that the lack of forensic assistants affects a family on the island and causes them to postpone the burial of a relative.
