Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote traveled yesterday to the La Albericia pavilion, in Santander, to face an Uneatlántico Pereda that is fighting to escape relegation places and showed its best version to complicate the game for the visitors.

The Santander team started the match with an impeccable defense, limiting the rivals' shooting options. Juan Rivera, coach of Zonzamas, had to call a time-out 8 minutes into the game due to his team's nerves, looking for an immediate solution.

Little by little, the San Bartolomé team was getting into the game. After two minutes from the restart and in inferiority, the goal difference was reduced to a single goal after a spectacular outside shot by Brenda Roger from 8 meters.

Pereda quickly distanced themselves by three goals, discouraging Zonzamas with unforced errors. However, aware of the importance of each point in this league, they reacted. A goal from pivot Jana Pinilla, playing in her homeland, tied the score almost at the end of the first half. During the rest of the period, Zonzamas responded to each of Pereda's goals, maintaining parity.

The break came with a score of 15-14.

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote started the second half in inferiority due to Lucía Chacón's exclusion in the last play of the game, but that did not prevent Luana Albán from opening the scoring from her wing. Zonzamas' defensive intensity increased and that allowed some creativity in attack, such as Ingrid Roger's lob after reaching the 6-meter line alone. Pereda had to react and 6 minutes after the Canary captain's goal, the locals equalized, returning to the starting point.

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote could only step on the accelerator if they wanted to secure the two points at stake. They put on their work clothes, led by a hard-working Brenda Roger, and two minutes before the halfway point they were already two goals ahead and the local coach, Álvaro Manso, called a time-out.

That time-out was a boost for the Santander team, who managed to tie, making it clear to their rivals that they could not lower their guard for a second. The exchange of goals continued for several minutes where no team managed to escape from the opponent.

Nine minutes from the end, Ingrid Roger received a red card after accumulating three exclusions and Zonzamas took it as a challenge and managed to tip the balance in their favor. A closed shot from the Cuban Gleynis Reyes in the 26th minute gave a three-goal advantage and the feeling that Pereda had given up.

The last 4 minutes served to increase the visitors' advantage, who achieved a final lead of 5 goals and a feeling of overcoming that will serve to inject motivation in the final stretch of the season.
