You can never know the script for the development of a rally, but in this "Villa de Santa Brígida", the unpredictability of the classification became the protagonist of the race in capital letters. A 33rd edition that is already history and that we will remember as the first rally won by the Lanzarote driver Aníbal Machín and his Gran Canaria co-driver Pity Ramos, with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, who took the lead from the third stage and turned it into their first victory. This team inaugurates the box of the BP Rally Championship of Las Palmas 2017, with another Lanzarote team in second place on the podium, Jesús "Suso" Lemes-Ayose Barrera, with a Honda Civic. A Lanzarote domain that had the company on the third step to the Teldense Juan Betancort-Pedro Viera with Toyota Corolla TC, after a final sprint to overcome the first Yaris of the Enma-2RM Trophy, with Acorán Navarro and Erick Guerra very close and that were classified next after another great rally, in the fourth and fifth final place.
Only the third place was at stake from the beginning to the end of the rally, since the rapid abandonments of Domingo Ramos and Néstor Santana led to tranquility for Aníbal Machín and Suso Lemes, in turn separated by a significant difference in time, in the first two places of the general classification.
Navarro also achieved the triumph in the Enma-2RM Trophy, with 11 seconds of advantage over Erick Guerra, both with the competitive Yaris that once again put a good dose of emotion to their own classification. Third in this event was the debutant Alejandro Martín -brother of another great driver such as Armide Martín-, with an eighth place overall.
In the middle of the Yaris, Tato Suárez with the Ford Escort, winner of Group H (historical), sixth absolute, got into privileged places. But with the first classified of Santa Brígida, Dani Santana (Honda Civic), only two seconds away, seventh overall.
The ninth place was awarded to Gerardo Reyes with the Renault Megane, while the tenth was for the second classified of the BP Promotion Trophy, Eduardo Cárdenes with a Golf GTi, event that was won in this first event by Alejandro Martín, also Best Debutant Driver in the rally.
Manuel Hernández-David Bethencourt with Renault-5 Turbo won the rally in the Regularity Sport (RS) mode, in High Average or Championship. Ricardo Lorenzo-Angel Martín won in Low Average or Cup with the SEAT 124 Sport. While in the 50 Trophy, the triumph was for Javier Marrero-Isabel García (BMW 320).
Of the 61 teams that took the start, only 40 finished the race, counting those who did it in superrally and the classified RS, so it was harder than expected for the mechanics.
Finally, the motor party was moved again to the main street of Santa Brígida for a crowded arrival and awards ceremony, with the presence once again of the mayor of the Villa, José Antonio Armengol and all the institutions and sponsors that supported the organization by the FALP.
