UD Lanzarote suffered their first defeat since returning to Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, falling 1-2 against UD Vecindario. The Gran Canaria team, after not appearing last week against CD El Cotillo, did make an appearance in Lanzarote. Tino Luis's pupils were able to come back from Adrián's goal that put UD Lanzarote ahead. In the second half, goals from Abraham and Cristian secured the victory for Vecindario.
There was a lot of fighting in the center of the field from the start of the match. An area of the field in which the players strived to tip the balance of dominance in favor of their respective teams. Little by little, UD Lanzarote took control of the game, although they were unable to translate that dominance into dangerous chances.
UD Lanzarote's first approach came in a strategic action. In a free kick on the edge of the area, Jotha lifted the ball over the wall, the sphere was controlled by Rosmen inside the area and his crossed shot was cleared by a defender under the posts.
It wasn't until the 35th minute of the first half that another dangerous chance would be seen, and in this case it was for UD Vecindario. A through ball for Rubén Quesada to enter the area, and in his one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Agoney stopped it low.
UD Lanzarote would take the lead in the 37th minute. Jotha hung a ball inside the area, Rosmen extended it with a header towards the far post and Adrián Martín, arriving from behind, sent the ball into the back of the net. A goal that would take them to the end of the first half of the match.
UD Vecindario would manage to equalize the match at the start of the second half. A good individual play by Cristian allowed him to stand inside the area and beat Agoney with a shot at medium height. UD Lanzarote reacted, having chances to tip the balance in their favor again. The clearest was a free kick from Toñito from the edge of the area, in which Ione shone to prevent the second goal.
Following the equalizing goal, UD Lanzarote took control of the game and looked for Vecindario's goal. They would create danger again from set pieces, with Raúl and Javi Betancort having chances to break the tie. However, it was UD Vecindario who would take the lead with eight minutes remaining in the match. Abraham controlled a ball inside the area and beat Agoney with a low shot.
Until the end of the match, it was a case of wanting to but not being able for UD Lanzarote. The Rojillos had to face the added minutes with numerical inferiority, with Javi Betancort being sent off with a double yellow card for claiming a possible penalty on a teammate. There was no time for more and the three points flew to Gran Canaria in the luggage of UD Vecindario.
