After a transition season in which it was decided to dispense with the subsidiary team for economic reasons, UD Lanzarote will recover its second team next season, which will play in the Primera Regional de Lanzarote. The project will be
led by Carmelo Hernández, being the coach who will take the reins of the Rojillo subsidiary team in the 2021/2022 season and which marks the return of the coach to the entity.
UD Lanzarote is recovering its subsidiary team with the aim of continuing to strengthen the youth team and will be made up mostly of under-23 players. A subsidiary that will have a direct connection with the first team of UD Lanzarote, making it possible for players to make the leap to the team led by Mateo García at any time of the season and which competes in the Canary Islands group of the Third Division RFEF.
The sports management of UD Lanzarote has closed the incorporation of Carmelo Hernández as the top technical manager of the subsidiary team, a coach who has extensive experience in the category and in training work. In the recently concluded season he led CD Arrecife, a team that he qualified for the promotion play-off and was previously coach of FC Puerto del Carmen.
Carmelo Hernández returns in this way to UD Lanzarote, a club in which he has been a player and coach. As technical manager he led the first team in the 2008/2009 season, achieving permanence in the Second Division “B” with the Rojillos. The following season he continued to be the team's coach in the bronze division of Spanish football. He will be accompanied in the technical staff by Borja Corujo and Jonás Cruz, who will assist during training, as well as Pedro García as goalkeeper training coach and Miguel Ángel Vega who will be responsible for the physical preparation of the subsidiary team.
