UD Lanzarote kicks off the new season with a draw against Unión Puerto

UD Lanzarote started the 2021/2022 season with a draw against Unión Puerto, a result that can be considered fair given what was seen throughout the 90 minutes of play on the synthetic turf of the Lanzarote Sports City. The two
teams controlled the match in bursts and the red team lacked depth and finishing in the attacking actions they generated.

The match began with UD Lanzarote wanting to assert their home advantage and take control of the game. Miguel Gopar warned in the 11th minute with a shot from the edge of the area that went high. And the goal that put the
red team ahead came in the 16th minute, with an incursion by Miguel Gómez on the left side, his shot being deflected at the near post by the visiting defender Yeremi Valerón.

The reaction from Unión Puerto was not long in coming and before the half hour, the
men from Majorera equalized on the scoreboard. In a corner kick to the left of the goal defended by Ruymán, Ancor headed the ball and the strong header went into the back of the net. The red team felt the goal conceded and with the
draw, they reached halftime.

The best action of the second half came in the 52nd minute and was also from a set piece. A corner kick was headed by Matheus and the ball ended up hitting the crossbar of the goal defended by
Agoney. Mateo García brought on Alyson to seek the overflow on the wing from the Brazilian.

The players from both teams felt the strong heat prevailing at noon on Sunday in the second half, but they proved to be two teams that want to treat the ball well and circulate the sphere around the green. In the 68th minute, Miguel Gómez executed a free kick from the right side and Agoney's hand along with the crossbar prevented the goal. With the draw at one goal, the match came to an end, with UD Lanzarote adding the first point of the current season. The red team visits UD Las Palmas “C” next Saturday, a yellow subsidiary that this Sunday defeated SD Tenisca 1-3 on the island of La Palma.
