The 43rd Haría Hill Climb took place this Saturday under the organization of CD. Evesport, after weeks of uncertainty due to the cancellation of the Isla de los Volcanes Rally of the S-CER. An awaited test that had the support of a great presence of public in the 4.5 km route, especially in the spectacular final part through the Mirador de Los Helechos area.
And with this scenario, the Lanzarote driver and current island champion, Antonio "Toñín" Suárez, left no open opportunities for his rivals and won in category 1 or touring cars, after winning in the three rounds with the Porsche 911 GT3, one of training and the two official climbs, with a best time of 2.16.879, which meant staying four tenths of his best record achieved last year, although it did not prevent him from adding his second consecutive triumph on the northern ramp of Lanzarote.
His superiority was demonstrated by taking the victory by 4.8 seconds ahead of the next classified, the Tenerife driver Angel Bello with the Audi R8, who is gradually getting the hang of it to evolve towards the top of the podium in the following rounds of the Regional Mountain Championship with this imposing mount. A second place that puts him in the fight for the regional title, since a priori the Lanzarote driver will not follow it.
A second step of the podium that was highly coveted, since the other aspirant would be the Lanzarote driver Oliver Rodríguez with another Porsche 911 GT3, who in the end had to settle for third place by only two hundredths of a second, less than a sigh in real life but crucial in a climb like Haría. Another visiting driver, José Manuel González from La Gomera, after a great time in the first official round, could not defend himself against his close rivals due to problems in his mount, so he went from having a place on the podium to fourth place and took the trophy of class 2, ahead of his most direct theoretical rival in the Canary Islands Championship, Víctor Martín with the Cupra León, who also broke the turbo in the last round, although he was able to maintain the fifth absolute place of touring cars by 6 tenths, ahead of the SEAT Ibiza of Octavio de León, sixth overall.
In the FALP Promotion event, Adián Pérez won with the Toyota Corolla, by only 2 tenths over Héctor Macías, with Opel Corsa.
Most of the drivers signed their best time in the second official round, as José Luis Rodríguez did alone with his Silver Car barquetilla, winner of category 3 with a best time of 2.22.347. Also alone, the Nova Proto barchetta of the Tenerife driver Lauren García won in category 2, who marked in the last pass a record of 2.03.243, the fastest in this ramp of Haría in the current version, so it becomes the new record of the climb in this 4.5 km route.
The organization of the CD. Evesport carried out without major inconveniences than a slight delay to remove the oil stains on the asphalt due to the engine failure of one of the vehicles, this second round of the Lanzarote Island Championship, which concluded with the traditional awards ceremony in the Plaza de Haría, in an act that was attended by the federative officials

.
