The Yaiza RallySprint returns on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 to celebrate its second edition in 2022, after the great reception from motor racing fans last year, with six timed sections, three in each direction of the approximately 9 km route, divided between Friday night and Saturday morning.
The Yaiza Sprint is promoted by the City Council and organized by Club Evesport with the support of the Inter-Island Automobile Federation of Las Palmas, the Canary Islands Automobile Federation and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
On Friday, starting at 9:30 p.m., two passes will be held on the Las Casitas - Las Breñas section, via Femés, and on Saturday the remaining four, starting at 9:30 a.m., to finish around 3:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony. In total there are 54 timed km, almost as many as in a rally of the provincial championship.
The night race always has a special attraction for the fans, but it also allows the organization of the CD. Evesport to develop the rallysprint, bothering the residents of the towns of Las Breñas, Maciot, Femés and Las Casitas less, points along the route of the section. A double effort for the organizational teams having to travel two days to the event, but it is expected to improve the show and the development of the event in two days.
The tourist area of Playa Blanca will serve as the venue for the event for the second year, with the prominence for the departure and arrival ceremonies, which will take place in Plaza del Carmen. The town of Uga is also incorporated into the RallySprint Yaiza program, with the location in its parking lot of the assistance area, thus avoiding the use of the road as a work park.
The next event will be the official presentation of the event and its list of entries, on Tuesday, August 23, at a place and time to be confirmed. Registrations are now open until Thursday, August 18, through the website www.VMRM.net, where all the information about the event is also published. The first edition of the Yaiza Sprint crowned Toñín Suárez and his co-driver Gabriel Espino at the controls of the Porsche 911 GT3, undisputed winners last year.
