The XV San Juan-RCNA Crossing will pay tribute to the young swimmer Alejandro Candela, who died this Tuesday at the age of 18, as reported by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The competition, which is valid for the IX Lanzarote Open Water Swimming Cup and the I Canary Islands Open Water Cup of the F.C.N., will begin at 10:00 am this Saturday, June 23 with the start of the pre-beginners category with a distance of 50 meters. And before the start, organizers, participants and friends will remember Alejandro Candela, a regular participant in the crossings.
The day will continue with the starts of the beginners at 10:15 am with a distance of 400 meters. Then the children's category will do so with a course of 800 meters, and finally the children, juniors and masters with a distance of 2,000 meters. There will be an adapted category and the masters will have 13 age groups from 20 years onwards.
During the day of Thursday, June 21, the list of registered swimmers will be published and on Friday, at 7:00 pm, the informative technical meeting with the participants will be held at the RCNA. On the same Friday, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the bib numbers can be collected, as well as on Saturday of the race from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.
The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife will award medals to the absolute champions and the top three finishers in all categories and age groups. They will be given a souvenir t-shirt and will be offered a meal.
