The world windsurfing elite arrives in Lanzarote to participate in the sixth edition of the WindSurf PWA. The event will be held at Playa de Las Cucharas, which from June 30 to July 4 will become the stage for an exclusive show. There, athletes such as Sarah-Quita, the Ruano sisters, Laure Treboux, Junko Nagoshi, José "Gollito" Estredo (current world champion), Marcilio "Brawzinho", Kiri Thode and Antxon Otaegui will delight the public with their aquatic acrobatics in the Freestyle variety.
In addition to the sports demonstration, various activities will be held in Costa Teguise parallel to the championship. Wine tastings, live recycling sculptures, wind game workshops, pony rides, Tai Chi classes or massages will set the atmosphere of Playa de las Cucharas on the days the sporting event is held.
And to put the finishing touch to the event, the "Wind & Music Festival", which will bring together performers of Soul, Jazz, Electronic or Funk, and will envelop the urban area near the sea of Costa Teguise. Among the artists will be Ale Acosta, The Knot, Ivam and Juan Hierro
The organization of this outstanding event on the world calendar of the Professional Windsurfing Association is in charge of the La Santa Surf team, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Teguise City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Specifically, the City Council will invest 50,000 euros in the event this year; in addition to the usual contribution of personnel and material, "in order for this international event to once again be one of the most relevant events on the professional circuit".
