The Island Sports Service met this Wednesday with the councilors of the area to promote inter-administrative cooperation. The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, met with the councilors of Sports of the different municipalities, with the exception of Yaiza who could not attend, to promote inter-administrative cooperation with the aim of promoting sports on the island.
Likewise, the councilor explained to the different mayors that this meeting "has been the preamble to the creation of the Island Sports Table, an organ that we believe is necessary to work hand in hand to improve and promote sports on the island".
In this meeting, different topics of interest for island sports were discussed, such as the imminent departure of the different calls for subsidies granted by the Cabildo, the availability of sports facilities or the different events that will be held until the end of the year.
Juan Monzón also announced to the mayors that the Island Sports Service will also grant a nominated subsidy of "52,000 euros" to the seven town councils so that they can acquire sports equipment. "We are fully aware of the needs of the town councils in sports matters, and from the area I lead we will always extend a hand to all the consistories equally so that they can continue to support and grow the sport of the island", added Monzón, who thanked the predisposition and collaboration of the town councils both for this meeting and for the creation of the future Island Sports Table.
