Spectacular first day of the XIII César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas

Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, Solum AEDAS Homes and Buchaca finish as leaders after the first two races of the competition

On the afternoon of this Friday, with excellent weather conditions, the XII César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas began, with the bay of Arrecife as the main setting for a race course that met the expectations of the 20 participating crews.

The regatta committee organized the competition into two groups to offer a greater nautical spectacle: group 1, made up of ORC 1, ORC 2 and ORC 3, and group 2, with ORC 4 and ORC 5 (J80). Both categories have top-level crews who have come to enjoy this competition in Lanzarote waters.

With precise punctuality, the first heat began on a race course that surprised the teams with its unbeatable conditions. After the first group left, four boats took the lead: Ye Cabrera's Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, Oscar Pattenden's Katanga, Lucio Pérez Aranaz's Solum AEDAS Homes and the Sorondongo IV
skipped by Miguel Ángel Matallana.

After the second pass through the windward buoy, the three leading boats continued to lead the regatta, followed by a second group that included Ferrer y García and Muyay. Finally, the victory was contested between Solum and Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, with a spectacular finish in which Ye Cabrera's team took the victory by a minimal difference.

By classes, in ORC 1 and 2, the victory went to Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, followed by Katanga in second place and Muyay in third, with Arcturus and Sorondongo IV
completing the classification.

Solum AEDAS Homes took the victory in ORC 3, followed by Ferrer y García in second place and Pionene in third, with Alaia I and Poseidon closing the classification. In the first race of the second group (ORC 4 and 5), Maeña 9 and Butxaca soon took the lead, reaching the first turn with several meters of advantage over the rest of the fleet. Both boats remained in the lead until the end of the regatta, with Joaquín Blanco's Butxaca taking the victory, while Maeña 9 finished in second position. Tango crossed the finish line in third place, followed by Calero Marina Wind Team, Alzent, Calero Marinas Lanzarote, Altamar 1, Luna Doce, Manitu and Mateo.

In the second race of the day, the excellent conditions remained on the race course located in the capital of Lanzarote. In group 1, the fight between Solum AEDAS Homes, Lanzarote Sailing Team and Katanga was repeated in an exciting competition at sea. In this second heat, Solum AEDAS Homes took the victory, followed by Lanzarote Sailing Team and Katanga in third.

In ORC 1 and 2, Lanzarote Sailing Paradise once again took first place, followed by Katanga in second and Muyay in third, with Arcturus and Sorondongo IV in fourth and fifth place respectively.

In ORC 3, Solum AEDAS Homes was again first, followed by Ferrer y García in second place and Pioneer in third, with Alaia I and Poseidón closing the classification.

The ORC 5 podium in the second race was defined with Buchaca in first position, followed by Tango and Maeña 9. Calero Marinas Wind Team was fourth, followed by Mateo, Alzenit, Altamar I, Calero Marina Lanzarote, Luna Doce and Manitu.

After the first two races, Ye Cabrera's Lanzarote Sailing Paradise leads in ORC 1 and 2. In ORC 3, Lucio Pérez's Solum AEDAS Homes leads the provisional classification. Finally, in ORC 4 and 5, Joaquín Blanco's Buchaca finishes the first day as leader.

This Saturday the last four races of this competition will be held, with two races for each group, promising a lot of emotion to know the winners of the XIII César Manrique Trophy – RCNA – Calero Marinas.
