The competition in the Women's Gold Division of Honor resumed on Saturday afternoon, with the last matchday of the first round being held, a matchday in which CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife visited the always complicated court of Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava. The Lanzarote team was in charge of carrying the weight of the match and it was in the second half, when they increased their defensive intensity, that they managed to win by a clear 21 to 33 and add the two points that were at stake.
The first part of the match was marked by the inaccuracies of both teams, losing excessive balls and not being successful when elaborating the attacking plays. It was clear that the team that managed to calm the nerves would take the cake. The advantages in favor of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife were small in the first half.
After passing the equator of the first part, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, with two goals from Miram Páez, went ahead on the scoreboard with a three-goal advantage (7-10). Soliss Pozuelo de Calatrava, supported by its noisy fans, was not willing to give up and was able to equalize the score again. Noelia Delfa was in charge of putting the tie at 10 goals with an action on the left wing.
In the final minutes of the first half, the visiting team went ahead by three goals again, but would be diminished in the defensive part with the second exclusion with which the pivot Leticia Cobos was punished. In numerical inferiority, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife stole a ball and Esther de Miguel culminated the counterattack to establish the 12 to 16 with which the break was reached.
The second half began with a 2-0 partial in favor of Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava, with goals from Elena Díaz and Noelia Delfa. The team from Ciudad Real was not willing to give facilities, but soon found the increase in the defensive intensity of the Lanzarote team.
The defense of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife managed to keep its rival for more than ten minutes without being able to pierce the goal defended by Irene Sánchez. And in attack, the visitors achieved a partial score of 0-6, increasing the difference to seven goals and causing the local coach to request a time-out (18-25).
After the indications from the bench, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife did not lift its foot from the accelerator and practically sealed the match by increasing the difference by more than ten goals. At the end of the match, the clear victory was reached by 21 to 33.
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife ends the first round located in the third position of the classification of the Women's Gold Division of Honor and three points from the lead. Next Sunday the second round will begin and will do so by receiving the visit of Errece Almassora Balonmano, a match scheduled for 12:30 hours in the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy.
