CB San José Obrero Lanzarote faced the second Canarian derby of the season on Saturday afternoon and, as is often the case in this type of match, the intensity and equality was evident throughout the 60 minutes of play. The match became quite complicated for San José Obrero in the first half, having to use their experience in the second half to turn the score around and add the two points that were at stake.
The match began with San José Obrero offering their best version, although the locals' push faded as the minutes passed. A 3-0 run with goals from Mikita Liavonau, Diego Fernández and Carmelo Álvarez, served to put the score at 5-3 and begin to take the initiative in the match.
After the first half, a numerical inferiority was not an impediment for Balonmano Tejina La Laguna to take the lead again on the scoreboard, with Javier Negrín being in charge of establishing the 8-9. The match began to get complicated for CB San José Obrero in defense, with Miguel Laguna and Mikita Liavonau suffering two exclusions in the first half, leaving them on the verge of disqualification.
The fast game displayed by Balonmano Tejina La Laguna in the final minutes of the first half surpassed the locals. Joel Armas scored two goals from the left wing, one of them completing a counterattack, increasing the visitors' advantage to two goals. The score was 15-17 at the end of the first half.
The Tenerife team acquired the maximum advantage at the beginning of the second half, with Javier Negrín scoring the goal that put the score at 15-18. The game of San José Obrero Lanzarote grew as the minutes passed and a 2-0 run, with goals from Óscar Silva, reduced the difference to the minimum expression, having to request David García a time-out (21-22).
After the instructions from the bench, two goals from Carmelo Álvarez from the right wing returned the initiative to the local team. Balonmano Tejina La Laguna was not willing to make things easy for the locals, being able to get back in front on the scoreboard. José Antonio Rubio scored from the right wing to establish the 23-24, being on this occasion Iñaki Malumbres who requested the time-out.
A powerful shot by Mikita Liavonau, a player who remained on the court despite the two exclusions, and a goal by Ángel Iglesias from the right wing, returned the advantage to CB San José Obrero Lanzarote. The 6:0 defense was too much for Balonmano Tejina La Laguna and under the posts Javi Santana was very confident. Mikita Liavonau and Acoidán Martín scored two new goals to establish the 27-24.
There were less than ten minutes left for the end of the match, with the Tejina coach requesting a new time-out. Ángel Iglesias transformed a seven-meter shot to practically sentence the match and increase the advantage to four goals (28-24). An income that the locals knew how to manage perfectly until the end of the match.
Triumph by 34 to 29 of CB San José Obrero Lanzarote in the Canarian derby against Balonmano Tejina La Laguna, adding two points that allow the Lanzarote team to continue leading the classification of group A of the First National Masculine. The next rival will be Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza, a match that will be played on Saturday in Galician lands starting at 18:00 hours.
