After the Snipe Master World Championship in Puerto Sherry (Cádiz) concluded this Sunday, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailor, Pedro Ferrer Espino, once again climbed onto a world Snipe podium, being proclaimed world runner-up together with Yaimur Hernández.
The Lanzarote crew had a championship that went from less to more, starting it with a 35th place that was their discard, in the second race they finished 15th. On the second day they nailed it with a 6th and 7th place, which led them to achieve the runner-up in the grandmaster category, continuing with the endless history of Damunchito.
The title in the same category went to the North Americans Augie Díaz and Christine de Silva (1st, 4th, 8th and 3rd). The podium was completed in third place by the Portuguese Antonio Viegas and Luis Pinheiro, 19 points behind the Lanzarote natives.
Matías Garcías Dévora (RCN Arrecife) and María del Mar Correa (RCN Motril) formed a crew in the apprentice category in which they finished 2nd and 47th overall. The success of Ferrer and Hernández was not only for Canarian sailing, Fernando León and Antonio del Castillo (RCNGC) also won silver in the master category, of which the Balearic Islanders Damián Borrás and Sara Franceschi were champions. The brothers Gustavo and Rafael del Castillo won bronze in the apprentice category, of which the Americans were the winners
