The European Snipe Youth Championship, which was attended by 19 crews, 7 of which were Spanish, ended in A Coruña. Mariano Stinga (RCN Arrecife) and José Baamonde (MRCYB), after being on the podium since the first day, confirmed today the second position with which they started the day to be proclaimed runners-up.
Only one point prevented them from being proclaimed champions after having surpassed the winners in the two races today, who finished with a one-point difference.
Stinga and Baamonde started with the victory in the first race, by a fourth place of the champions, Carlos Bermúdez and César Herrero from Coruña. In the last race, Mariano and José won again, but the eighth place was not enough compared to the tenth place of the Galicians. In the end, the advantage was only one point.
The podium was formed by Calos Bermúdez (C.N. Marina Coruña) and César Herrero (RCN A Coruña) who finished in first place with 26 points. Second place for Mariano Stinga (RCN
Arrecife) and José Baamonde (Real Club de Yates de Baiona) with 27 points. The Galicians Jorge Villanueva and Javier Rasila, also from Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona and CVN Vigo,
respectively, finished third, 8 points behind Stinga and Baamonde.
