The boats Lanzarote Sailing Pradise skippered by Ye Cabrera (RCN Arrecife), and Butxaca by Joaquín Blanco (RCN Gran Canaria), are the first leaders in the ORC groups 1st 3 and ORC 4 respectively, of the XII César Manrique Trophy that began on Thursday afternoon in Arrecife.
The boats made a journey from the height of Playa del Cable to Playa Bastián in Costa Teguise, encountering east wind that in some sections past the Muelle de los Mármoles, came to blow with considerable intensity and offering a beautiful spectacle in the upwind to the return beacon.
Lanzarote Sailing Pradise was the winner in ORC class one to three with a time of 2.12.26, after the compensation of times it surpassed Muyay by Aureliano Negrín (RCNA) by one minute and 41 seconds. The third position was occupied by Macaco by Lucio Pérez (RCN Tenerife) two minutes and 45 seconds from the winner.
In ORC 4 Joaquín Blanco at the command of the Butxaca achieved victory with an advantage of eight minutes and 42 seconds over the Maeña 9 by Andrés Monje (RCN Tenerife). Francisco Curbelo with the Altamar one (RCN Arrecife) achieved the third position.
After the completion of the first day, Marina Lanzarote offered music with a DJ and a chickpea stew to the participants. On Friday, the start of the first race of the day will be at 12.30 hours. The XII César Manrique Trophy will end next Saturday with the third day.
