Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has returned to the path of victories after falling to leader Zonzamas last week. The Municipal de Tías was this Saturday the stage where the tiñoseras defeated Uneatlantico Pereda (27-26) in a match corresponding to the fourteenth day of the Women's Honor Division Gold.
The tiñosero team remained ahead on the scoreboard for most of the match, but with minimal differences over the Cantabrians who were within tenths of a second of tying the match.
Little to highlight within that equality from the beginning except for Made Cortez's skill in penalties. The second was stopped in the 19th minute to the concern of the Santanderians. Brenda Torres and Tati Masseu came out with their usual explosiveness in the last third of the first half to revolutionize the match. Gustavo Alonso Sánchez called a timeout with eleven seconds of the first partial to be played and the play worked out well. Jana Pinilla scored a penalty that tightened things on the scoreboard at halftime (13-12).
The second half started somewhat crazy on both sides and allowed the visitors to tie the game at fifteen after five minutes of play. The game accelerated, only paused by the referee whistles. Tati and Cristina appeared while Pereda lost a bit of control of their game although they did not completely dismount from the match (22-19, min.13).
In the locals, Tati and Brenda stood out, the latter perhaps in her best game of the season, which allowed Juanmi Pérez's squad to maintain a certain distance on the Tiense scoreboard while Pereda hung from the thin thread of Joana Pires' blasts (25-22, min. 18).
The Cantabrians continued to clench their teeth and after several doubts from the locals in attack, they got closer again in the scoring (25-24, min. 21:30). Made avoided the tie and Pereda suffered a two-minute expulsion for their player Alejandra Alonso, which caused a new visitor timeout with six minutes left for a heart-stopping ending.
Alonso's stop worked well again and tied the game again. Made spread her wings and Tati scored again to take the lead, but a new penalty allowed Pereda to tie with forty-nine seconds to play.
Juanmi Pérez prepared for the trenches and called a new timeout. After the tiñosero coach's pause, Brenda Torres armed herself with determination and got a penalty that the captain, Atteneri Morales, transformed, to make the Tiense stands jump and put her team ahead. Timeout from the visiting coach. In the restart, the referees expelled Tati for two minutes, but time was running out. Aldara Valles managed to arm her arm in a last effort, but the background referee annulled the goal considering that it was already outside the regulation time.
Tiñosera victory that places them in ninth position in the standings with thirteen points, three behind their immediate pursuer, precisely Pereda, who is tenth classified with ten points. One more step towards the main objective of permanence.
Jana Pinilla became the top scorer of the match with eight goals. In the tiñoseras ranks, Tati Masseu's six goals and Brenda Torres' five goals stood out.
Next February 8 at 8:00 p.m. (peninsular time) the tiñoseras visit Solimusic Events Carballal, a team that is second to last in the standings with five points and a balance of one victory, three draws and ten defeats in fourteen games played.
