This weekend the fourth edition of the Haría Titán was held, an event that brought together about 900 participants and turned the mountains of Haría into the epicenter of trail running in the Canary Islands. With the Plaza de Haría as a starting point, the event kicked off on Friday with activities for all ages and continued until Saturday, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated events on Lanzarote's sporting calendar.

The Haría Titán stood out not only for the quality of its participants, including elite runners, but also for its focus on sustainability and integration with the natural environment of Lanzarote. The event offered three modalities: 42.5 kilometers, 22.5 kilometers and 14.5 kilometers, and along its routes, participants were able to enjoy some of the most spectacular landscapes in the north of the island.

The most demanding modality, the 42.5 kilometers, was won by Jesús Gil in the men's category, who completed the course in 4:05:08, followed by Albi Cedrés and Alexis Martín, who crossed the finish line together, with a time of 4:10:34. In the women's category, the victory went to Audrey Bams, who dominated the race from the beginning and reached the finish line in 5:10:22, followed by María Pilar Sosa (5:43:22) and Yamila Medina (5:48:40).

For its part, in the 22.5-kilometer Geopark modality, Sergio Machín prevailed with a time of 1:55:04, while Aurora López was the winner in the women's category, with a final time of 2:22:15. The podiums were completed with Joaquín Guerra (1:57:31) and David Morales (2:00:51) in men, and Petra Vymetalova (2:30:36) and Elena Valiente (2:39:54) in women.

In the shortest modality, 14.5 km, the men's victory went to Eutinio Betancor (1:15:00), while in the women's category Lorena Rodríguez prevailed with a time of 1:28:54. The podiums of this modality were completed with Ismael Redol (1:16:05) and Ibai Goñi (1:20:49) in men, and Nuria Muñoz (1:30:21) and Eija Johanna (1:35:24) in women.

This year, the Haría Titán has placed special emphasis on reducing its environmental impact. Among the measures adopted, the reduction of the use of plastics, the placement of informative posters on protected areas, and the control of access to sensitive areas of the route stand out. In addition, a marking system for gels was implemented to record the waste generated during the test.

These actions, together with other initiatives, have allowed the Haría Titán to be on track to obtain the environmental quality certification granted by the evaluation committee of the Green CXM Trail FEDME mountain race organization, which recognizes the effort to make the event a more sustainable and environmentally friendly event.

The day concluded with the emotional awards ceremony, in which the effort of the winners in the different modalities was recognized. With this closing, the HTT organizing team is already planning the next edition, which will be held on November 15 and will be even more special as it becomes the Canary Islands Skyrunning Fecamon 2025 Championship. This event promises to attract a greater number of elite runners and trail enthusiasts.

The 2024 Haría Titán has been possible thanks to the support of various entities and sponsors, including the Haría City Council, the Lanzarote Cabildo, Lanzarote Sports Destination, Promotur Turismo Canarias, Geoparque Lanzarote, the Insular Sports Service, Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida, CICAR, Líneas Marítimas Romero, Más Deportes and We Create. These institutions have supported an event that has already established itself as a benchmark in the Canary Islands sports calendar.

In addition, we cannot overlook the work of the volunteers, whose dedication and effort have been essential to make a new edition of the event a reality. Their constant support has been fundamental to guarantee the good development of the event. Nor can we forget the collaboration of various local companies, which once again have demonstrated their commitment to the Haría Titán through their support and affection, contributing to the success of this great event.
