At 07:00 the XIX Ironman Lanzarote began, with the participation of 1,405 participants. The Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rita Martín, was in charge of giving the starting signal. The triathletes have had to face the 3.8 kilometers of swimming first and are now facing the bicycle race with a route of 180 kilometers.

In the men's category, Eneko Llanos and Bert Jammaer have maintained a beautiful fight. A test that has been developed with a leading group of five triathletes. The first to leave the water was Stephen Bayliss with a time of 47 minutes and 42 seconds. The Spaniard Eneko Llanos is meeting the expected expectations, and has left the water in third position. Bert Jammaer, winner of the last two editions, occupies fourth place.

The conejero Gregorio Cáceres has left the water somewhat delayed, but meeting the expected expectations. The 3.8 kilometers of swimming is not Gregorio's forte and the goal was to lose as little time as possible. During the bicycle and the running race, Cáceres will try to recover time to be fighting for a place on the podium.

In the women's category, the American Hillary Biscay was the first to leave the water with a time of 50:40. Almost two minutes later, last year's winner Bella Bayliss left and third was Catriona Morrison. Yvette Grice and Sarah Schuetz completed the first five positions.

The triathletes are currently facing the 180 kilometers of bicycle race. The southern area of the island will be the first to be covered, to later cross the Timanfaya National Park. Around 13:00 the first participants will be arriving in Puerto del Carmen, to later face the 42.2 kilometers
