CD Magec Tías moves closer to permanence at the expense of Ibaizabal (73-60)

It was a long-awaited duel due to what was at stake and it was noticeable from the beginning that neither Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" nor Ibaizabal were going to seek the risk that could make it easier for the rival to win. The two teams, with the need to win, would wait for the opportune moment to take advantage of their opportunity, to give the final blow to the rival and add a victory that would allow them to continue dreaming.

The absences of Tatiana Tenorio due to injury and Eli Dabou due to not being registered at the time the match had to be played, postponed from January, were points against the interests of Magec Tías. They came from winning on the leader's court, so they have already become accustomed to the epics from Jesús García's bench and on Friday night they wanted to continue along that line.

The first quarter served to test each other, with very low numbers well into the period. The Lanzarote team managed to get ahead on the scoreboard in the middle of the quarter and would not abandon that advantage throughout the match, with its best and worst moments, but controlling the scoreboard throughout the quarter. Slight advantage for the locals 16 to 13 that invited optimism, but especially to work. The visitors, for their part, did not lose confidence and played seriously, which allowed them to maintain equality in the game.

During the second quarter, the feeling of equality would increase, and even more so when the Biscayan team managed to reduce the difference and put more pressure on the Lanzarote team, who still continued to read the match as Jesús García told them from the bench. The distribution of points in the Lanzarote team was remarkable, as well as the success in the shot and in the work under the hoop, with a great capacity for rebounding and not allowing a second play to the peninsular team. Even so, the score of 33 to 31 at halftime made them maintain hope, but also attention in a very difficult match.

At the beginning of the third quarter, Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" broke loose and began to find all the gaps left by the rival. They were successful in shooting, rebounding, defended well and managed to make the rival accumulate fouls. The outside shot worked and the mid-range shot also worked, and if that were not enough, the incorporations from behind with Romina Rodríguez were effective and the work in the paint by Carolina Mateo or Yaiza García was amazing. The quarter ended with a resounding 53 to 40 that seemed to break the match in favor of the locals.

Even so, Ibaizabal did not give up, knowing that a defeat against Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" forces them to a miracle to save the category and came out with a pressing defense all over the court, managing to reduce a local advantage that reached 15 points to 9, forcing Jesús García to ask for a time-out and ask his players for calm.

Upon returning to the court, the local possessions seemed endless, with a lot of calm knowing that while you have the ball the rival cannot score, which allowed them, with success in shots and with accumulation of fouls from the Basque players, to maintain the difference and close the match with a score of 73 to 60.

Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" now has six victories, the same as Institutos de Compostela - Xunta de Galicia, the team that marks salvation, but with two fewer matches to play for the Tías players, while Ibaizabal is three victories away from the salvation places with five matches to play

The Lanzarote team faces Maristas Coruña this Sunday in a match belonging to matchday 22. The match, which will be at 12:00 hours in the Tías Municipal Pavilion, will be directed by referees Mauro Araque Cáceres and Roger Pinyol Fuertes.
