CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has finished propping up the team for a new season in the Women's Silver Division of Handball with the renewal of Rosa Álvarez, one of the basic pillars of the Tiñosero club in recent years.
Rosa Álvarez García will turn 35 years old in September. She is 1.65 meters tall and plays as a center back. She arrived at the yellow club in 2013 when it was already sailing through the national silver division and, except for a small break to play in Galicia in the Honor Division, she has been faithful year after year to CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen and, just a year later, she returned to stay.
Álvarez has prepared a pre-season that culminates this weekend with the Canary Islands Cup, "it has been good, entertaining and necessary for what is to come, taking into account that there are two injured players. We have to keep up with the people we have until the injured players return".
Miguel Ángel Lemes' players will start the Cup tomorrow Saturday against Balonmano Tejina Tenerife. Subsequently, they will play the advanced third day of the Canary Islands Cup with the match against Lanzarote Zonzamas on Monday, August 26 at 9:00 p.m. in Tías. They will close the Canary Islands Cup on August 28 against San José Obrero.
For Rosa Álvarez this competition "is good for us in pre-season. It is good to pick up the pace of the game, these three games are good for us and also to measure ourselves against three of the teams that we are going to have in our group".
The renewal of Rosa Álvarez comes after the signings of Madeleine Noelia Cortez Fuenzalida, Keyla Hernández, Neus Llorens and Vesi Nenkova, and the renewals of Suely Pinto Spencer, Lucía Betancort and Mary Sánchez, Atteneri and Eva Morales, Cristina Betancort, Famara Fernández and Andrea Armas, without forgetting Kenia Hernández and Bea Betancort who will be out after their operations in September.
Rosa Álvarez clarifies that "the reinforcements have been very good for us. Neus, Vesi and the new goalkeeper are entering the training sessions very well until we recover Vesi, who will contribute a lot in external shooting, while Neus and Keyla will also contribute a lot in defense. The goalkeeper, very good. In short, at the level of companionship they have adapted very well from the first moment in the team, we immediately protect each other and that is already noticeable in the group", concludes the player.
Miguel Ángel Lemes considers Rosa Álvarez a "committed, constant and very demanding player. She is complete, both defensively and offensively. She has a good one-on-one and a good game direction. Her lack of height to be a first line is compensated with intelligence. She is fast in the ball rise and a good penetrator. Her experience and quality means that she receives many mixed defenses, thus generating spaces for her teammates. Her contribution will be fundamental since with Bea's absence we are limited in the central position", concludes Lemes.
