The trails and roads of the municipality of Tinajo hosted the first edition of the Tinajo X Race this Saturday. An ultra-distance trail that has far exceeded all initial expectations, with nearly 300 runners participating in the race. Bruno Santana, a member of the Haría Trail Team, was the first classified in the "Ultra" category, consisting of a 56-kilometer route. The runners highlighted the difficulty of the course upon reaching the finish line located in the Plaza de Los Dolores in Mancha Blanca.
At 08:00 hours, the "Ultra" category of the Tinajo X Race started. Ahead, the runners had to face a 56-kilometer route, passing through areas such as Montaña del Picacho, La Santa, Tenásara, and Caldera Blanca, before returning to the finish area located next to the Ermita de Los Dolores in Mancha Blanca. From the first kilometers, the leading group was selected, establishing differences with respect to the rest of the competitors.
In the La Santa area, Bruno Santana (Haría Trail Team) took the lead, overtaking Rafael Rodríguez, who had been the first leader and was losing positions as the kilometers passed. Juan Carlos Benasco from Tinajo was the only one able to keep up with Bruno Santana, although stomach problems prevented him from fighting for the final victory.
Bruno Santana crossed the finish line in first place, after spending 5 hours and 7 minutes covering the 56 kilometers of the "Ultra" category. The second place overall went to Jubal Hernández, a runner who had a race from less to more. Jubal entered the finish line marking a time of 5 hours, 24 minutes, and 32 seconds. The podium was completed with the third place of Francisco Manuel Hernández (05:50:51).
The "Ultra" category only had the participation of one runner in the women's category. Ángeles Clar Allí from Club Kalima Trail was the brave one to complete the 56-kilometer route.
Jachinso Hernández and Belinda Guillén, winners of the "Media" category
The first edition of the Tinajo X Race has had routes adapted to all types of runners. The "Media" category, with a 27-kilometer route, had the participation of nearly one hundred runners. The great dominator of this category was Jachinso Hernández, a runner who had a very fast race despite the difficulty of the course. The Lanzarote native needed 2 hours and 16 minutes to cover the 27 kilometers of the route.
The podium of the men's category was completed with the second place of Rubén Lorenzo Salces (2:28:03) and the third place at the finish line of Rubén Rodríguez (2:31:00). Toño Martín, a runner who had led the race in the first kilometers, had to settle for ninth place.
In the women's category, the winner of the "Media" category was Belinda Guillén after spending a time of 2:59:53. The second place overall went to Debbie Jones (3:03:53). And the podium was completed with the third place of Marta Curbelo Fernández (3:07:06).

The Open category of 13.5 kilometers was the race that had the largest number of participants, with almost 150 runners taking the start at around ten in the morning. Among the runners was the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, who played a magnificent role in the race, finishing in thirty-fourth position.
Three runners competed for the victory in the "Open" category, and the race was practically decided in the final sprint. Alberto García, a runner from the Triyaiza club, crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 56 minutes and 49 seconds. The podium was completed with the second place of Pablo Felipe (57:06) and the third place of Ángel Lago (57:28)
In the women's category, the victory went to Melina Fanariotis from Majorera, from the Calima Triathlon club. She crossed the finish line with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 27 seconds. María Cambados (1:10:28) and Puri Gallego (1:11:10) completed the first three positions of the "Open" category of the Tinajo X Race.
