Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" faced a tough match at Valencia Basket's home, who are fighting in the upper part of the LF2 standings. The Lanzarote team continues in the dispute of a tough start to the second round, facing the top three teams in the standings. They started with a great performance against the leader Spar Gran Canaria that ended in a very tight defeat and faced the Valencians last weekend, in a match that was played at the Fuente San Luis and that was poorly managed by the red and blacks from the initial whistle.
The Magec Tías starters began the game very unfocused while the Valencians imposed a strong rhythm, aware of the importance of getting the game on track early against a priori uncomfortable rival. Rubén Burgos' girls had a brilliant first quarter scoring 24 points in these first ten minutes (24-17).
The ease of scoring from the three-point line by the local team and the lack of success of Magec Tías, who could not find themselves comfortable in defense or attack, widened the gap on the scoreboard throughout the second period. This forced Aday Villalba to change the combination of his quintet on several occasions. The Mali international, Meiya Tirera, did a great job inside the paint, which made her the most valuable player of the match. In this way, with an unknown Magec and a comfortable Valencia Basket, the scoreboard reflected a difference of almost 20 points at halftime (46-27).
Aday Villalba took the opportunity of the break to motivate his players who in the second half showed their identity again, of daring towards the basket and strong defensive level. Although those from Tías managed to win the partial of this third quarter (15-16), the difference seemed very difficult to overcome in the last period (61-43).
The last 10 minutes of the game were very competitive, with Magec Tías managing to get within 12 points, which forced Rubén Burgos to call a timeout and reactivate his quintet, who managed to maintain and extend the difference until the end of the game (76-55).
The Lanzarote team will try to break the streak of two defeats next Sunday, February 11 at the Municipal Sports Center of Tías against Ynsadiet Leganés, a team that coexists with the Valencians in second place in the Liga Femenina 2 standings.
