With some frequency, when the media refers to official stays of Spanish personalities, His Majesty the King, the Crown Prince, President of the Government, etc. at the La Mareta residence, on the Costa Teguise (Lanzarote), an error occurs, unrelated to Cesar Manrique, when the design of La Mareta is attributed to him, when the author of the remodeling project, adaptation, construction of 6 bungalows and a heliport is the architect Fernando Higueras Díaz.
The same occurs with:
The Hotel Las Salinas in Lanzazote, whose project and construction management are also by the architect Fernando Higueras Díaz, as shown on the plaque at the entrance of the aforementioned hotel.
And with the swimming pools and underwater disco of Lago Martianez in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife).
This can be easily verified by consulting the Official College of Architects of the Canary Islands, or the Historical Archive of the Official College of Architects of Barcelona where all my projects are deposited.
I insist, Cesar Manrique, whom I love, admire and will always be grateful to, is not to blame at all for this erroneous information.
Fernando Higueras Díaz
