The Yaiza Town Council, in collaboration with the Public Works Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, will inaugurate this Saturday, June 15, at 4:00 p.m. in the Morro de Uga roundabout, the sculpture Reflejos de La Geria by local craftsman Isidro Vilñoly Machín, a tribute to winegrowers and winemakers for their contribution to the creation and conservation of the landscape of La Geria.

"We want to publicly thank the rapid response from the Public Works Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the willingness of its councilor, Jacobo Medina, when granting the authorization," says the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, who points out that "this tribute aims to honor the figure of the winegrower who with so much sacrifice has carved a unique landscape in the world such as La Geria".

The Councilor for Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, points out that "today they are already proceeding to pour concrete and this Saturday at 4:00 p.m., prior to the start of the children's race of the Wine Run Kids and Wine Festival that hosts the town of Uga, we will proceed to its inauguration".

The work entitled Reflejos de La Geria, whose installation is also carried out by municipal employees and which shows a lizard peeking out from under a vine and a bunch of grapes, is a commission from the Institution presided over by Óscar Noda, charged to the municipal accounts, to Isidro Vilñoly Machín, craftsman from Uga and municipal worker who belongs to a family of recognized artisan tradition.

The Yaiza Town Council invites residents of the town and the entire island to enjoy this tribute to winegrowers and winemakers, encouraging them to come on foot due to the limited space for parking in the area, requesting caution and attention to the indications of the Local Police.
