Accompanied by Christmas airs performed by the Rancho de Pascua de Yaiza, the southern municipality inaugurated this Friday the "artistic and artisanal marvel" that recreates the birth of Jesus in Lanzarote, a work that occupies 260 square meters of surface next to the Plaza de Remedios, created this year by three workers of the municipal staff: Pancho Ortiz, Orlando Caraballo and Aridane Cabrera, thus protecting a tradition of thirty and more years that has prospects of being perennial.

On behalf of the City Council and its neighbors, the mayor Óscar Noda expressed "the greatest recognition to the three creators of the Nativity Scene that shows the landscape and heritage beauty of Yaiza and Lanzarote. Pancho, Orlando and Aridane are the authors of this great work of art that they have done with great care, affection and with many hours of dedication, with the support of colleagues from the municipal Mobile Park, and we must also thank them." The inaugural act of the nativity scene was preceded by the meeting of choirs in the church participated by the Vulcania Choir and the Vocal Group of Yaiza.

The Nativity Scene preserves old models incorporating novelties such as the large landscaped roundabout of the Molino de Yaiza and a water fountain that demonstrates the harmony between artistic expression and the use of technical advances at the service of creation, without losing the essence of the portal that has already made it a tradition. The mayor recalled "the figure of the pioneering Nativity scene maker of Yaiza and those first portals made by our beloved and unfortunate Tito Viera, who even as children we had to carry some stone."

The scale buildings, the representation of Yaiza and Lanzarote landscapes, the lighting, the water, the picon, the churches, the mountains, the composition, the workers of the primary sector in the field and every detail of the nativity scene, make this work a construction worthy of being visited.

"It is the Nativity Scene that has more tradition in Lanzarote, the most beautiful and the one that will have more visits with all certainty, so come in, enjoy it, see it, and recreate yourselves in many corners that we see in reality," added the mayor in the company of councilors of the Corporation and the parish priest of Yaiza, Jonathan Almeida, who blessed the portal before the public began the tour around it.
