The Library Department of the Teguise City Council will celebrate Book Day with a week of events and activities for all audiences, with "letters" as the central axis. Children's workshops, music, shows and book presentations complete the agenda that runs from April 18 to 23.

“We continue working and positioning our municipality as the Canary center of Literature with different activities, while giving relevance to new writers by offering spaces and means for the presentation of their books, as well as the different contests that represent an opportunity for literary creation”, says the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

"I encourage you to participate in this Book Week that we have prepared, thinking of giving the value that an event like April 23 deserves and enjoying letters from all perspectives in events and activities designed for children and adults”, says the Councilor for Libraries, Sara Bermúdez.

The program starts on Monday, April 18 with the opening of the deadline to submit works to the Esperanza Spínola Poetry Contest, which will extend the reception until July 1. It will continue on Tuesday the 19th at 5:00 p.m. in the Municipal Library “Nieves Castillo Bonilla”, where the narrator Vicki dos Santos will offer the workshop “Getting to know Saramago” for ages between 8 and 11 years old, as an activity within the centenary of the Nobel Prize for Literature based in Lanzarote.

On Wednesday the 20th at 5:00 p.m. in the Library, the narrator Cristina Temprano will offer a “Baby Tales” session for boys and girls between 1 and 3 years old, while at 7:30 p.m., in the same place, will be the presentation of the book “The house of bougainvilleas” by Yolanza Villazán and Catalina Haba.

On Thursday the 21st at 5:00 p.m. there will be a children's workshop in the Library, and at 7:00 p.m. the presentation of the book “The year I didn't travel to Buenos Aires” by Saray Encinoso Brito will take place. To end the day, at 8:00 p.m. will be the show “Mythology and Women” by Vicki dos Santos and Aarón Márquez in the Municipal Theater.

On Friday the 22nd at 6:00 p.m., the narrator Cristina Temprano and the musician Ayoze Rodríguez will offer their children's show “Re, fa, la, do and other stories” in the Convent of Santo Domingo, and at 8:30 p.m. the singer Andrea Rodríguez from La Palma will bring her concert “En-Cantos de Mujer” to the Casa-Museo del Timple.

On Saturday, April 23, Book Day, starts at 6:00 p.m. with the presentation of the book “No pressure, Canary Islands drawn” by Pedro Villarrubia in the Spínola Palace. On the other hand, at 7:00 p.m. in the same place will be the jury's decision of the Love and Heartbreak Letters Contest Los Novios de El Mojón, with the performance of the Malvasía trio and reading of the winning and finalist works.

This week of activities closes at 8:00 p.m. with the show “Shadow Bookshelf” through which the rooms of the Municipal Library will come to life by the actor Daniel Aparicio and the Esperanza Spínola theater group. Because the event requires a reduced capacity, four half-hour sessions will be held.
