The Cabildo of Lanzarote announces the entry into force of the new aid for frequent users of public transport. Almost 12,000 users, a large part of whom belong to various vulnerable groups, will now benefit from new discounts focused on promoting the use of public transport and helping the mobility of people in unfavorable situations.
The president of the Island Council, María Dolores Corujo, welcomed the entry into force of these bonds and pointed out that, "with this measure, we will support the most disadvantaged groups, while promoting the use of public transport for the benefit of the Island's environment."
"The increase in fuel and energy prices due to various external factors leads us to seek a solution so that citizens suffer as little as possible the consequences of the crisis and, thanks to these bonds, we trust that the mobility of the residents will not be compromised," the president stressed.
In the same vein, the Minister of Transport, Marcos Bergaz, insisted on the Cabildo's commitment to eco-sustainable mobility, promoting the change to a safer, more reliable, comfortable, economical and sustainable means of transport. He also highlighted "the importance of this aid to combat the vulnerability in which an important part of society finds itself."
The Cabildo will subsidize 80% of the pensioner, unemployed and youth pass; 100% of the special pensioner, disability and student pass. On the other hand, there will be a Canary Islands resident pass of 10 euros unlimited trips and a Canary Islands resident pass for workers with free unlimited trips (responsible declaration of worker status and a minimum of 80 trips made between September 1 and December 31, or 20 each month).
As for the beneficiaries by categories, 7,647 people benefit from the Canary Islands resident pass; 1,472 from the Lanzarote resident pass; 51 people from the unemployed pass; 402 people from the pensioner pass; 211 from the special pensioner pass; 482 from the youth pass; 1,135 from the student pass; 70 from the large family pass, and 477 from the disability pass.
