The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has asked this Tuesday the deputy and president of the PP regional, María Australia Narro, to urge the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to respond to the letters that she has sent him to welcome some of the approximately 2,300 immigrant minors who arrived to the islands in pateras or cayucos.

This is how he responded to a parliamentary question from the PP deputy on the evolution of the management of the migratory crisis in the islands, where he regretted that the popular ones question him about competences of Spain and not of the autonomous community, which are those of the immigrant minors.

"You respond to what is the argument of your party. He speaks of the Las Raíces Camp and it was the PP who dismantled the infrastructures in the Canary Islands, eleven in all the islands, between the years 2010 and 1019", Torres reproached him.

The president described as "pathetic" that the PP of the Canary Islands uses the regional Parliament to try to make state politics, demanding Navarro to ask Ayuso "to at least have the courtesy to answer the letters from the president of the Canary Islands, because he does not even respond to tell us no".

In this regard, he recalled that in 2017, with the PP in the Government of Spain, Andalusia went through the Strait from receiving 8,000 migrants to more than 23,000. "Did you hear the PSOE make partisan use? No, because the difference is to welcome, respond, attend to immigration for humanitarian reasons, and what you do is respond from the partisan point of view", he concluded.

Navarro denounces Sánchez's "insensitivity"

For its part, from the PP, Australia Navarro recalled that this weekend four migrants died from a cayuco in which there are also 46 missing. "It fills me with anger and impotence because despite that danger they keep coming, yesterday 86 new migrants", she said.

"And do you know what Pedro Sánchez does?", she questioned. "Not give any solution. And do you know what you do? Lament and shut up because you keep trying to cover up the shame of your leader", added the deputy.

Navarro made special emphasis that what happened last week in the Las Raíces camp, when the police had to use rubber bullets to quell some altercations between the migrants, "has no name", adding that in the detention center there are minors and in the center for minors there are adults.

The popular insisted that the Canarians want solutions and asked to listen to the NGOs, the workers of the centers, the immigrants themselves or, even, "to the people of his party like the mayor of La Laguna or the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands".

Finally, she criticized that Sánchez, despite the fact that 52% of the migrants come from Morocco, has gone on an "excursion" to Angola and to "get into the electoral campaign of Madrid" on the data of the Ministry of Health.

"That is the moral stature of the president. Mr. Torres, react, you have to act once and for all. Stand up to Pedro Sánchez and denounce the lack of sensitivity he has with us and with the immigrants. We cannot continue like this", she concluded.
