The e-MOCAN Platform (Canarian Model for Local Electronic Administration) will be a reality from September. This was agreed at the last meeting held between the Councilor for New Technologies of the Cabildo, Ramón Bermúdez, and the councilors of this same area of the seven municipalities of the island, who recently met to continue with the implementation schedule of electronic administration in Lanzarote.
According to the procedure being carried out, the residents of Tías, Tinajo and Teguise will be the first to be able to carry out some of the procedures provided for in the electronic administration. "The monitoring committee has decided to carry out pilot experiences before its total implementation, with these three municipalities being the first interested in participating," explained the Councilor for New Technologies, Ramón Bermúdez, who added that "the request for registration certificates and the modification of these data will be the first procedures that can be carried out by citizens."
The first phase of the implementation of the e-MOCAn Platform in Lanzarote foresees that all institutions aspire to apply between 12 and 15 procedures, "although for the moment it has been decided to start with the censuses and the processing of scholarships and study grants", the councilor pointed out.
The ultimate goal is to allow citizens to carry out their procedures with the administration electronically, through the Internet, and also to be able to monitor, from their own home, the status of their file, writing, request, etc. From the Cabildo, we are working in this direction to ensure that the procedures that are applied are the same regardless of which administration the citizen is addressing".
The e-MOCAN is a free software computer system based on the system that is already applied in many local administrations of Andalusia, and that in the Canary Islands has begun to be used by the Commonwealth of Municipalities of Non-Coastal Mountains of the Canary Islands.
