The Department of Social Services, Equality and Animal Protection of the Tías City Council has had two electric vehicles for the use of municipal personnel in the daily work that affects this department since this Tuesday. The vehicles were shown to the Corporation staff next to the electric charging point of the Social Welfare building.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the councilor of Social Services, Nicolás Saavedra, received the manager of the company Juan Toledo SL, Óscar Luzardo, and the head of the Business and Vehicles department of this Renault Dacia dealership, Cristóbal Ángel. All highlighted the need to promote the use of low-emission vehicles on the island.

José Juan Cruz referred to the fight against climate change, "which also concerns administrations, that is, we are the ones who have to lead, to the extent of our possibilities, the change of habits in daily life to stop the climate challenge in which we find ourselves."

Nicolás Saavedra was interested in the energy savings offered by the use of this type of vehicle. "Little by little, we try to pollute as little as possible and leave a minimal footprint on the territory. From this council we move with the least possible impact towards respect for the environment and we work, of course, to guarantee social rights to all citizens," he said.

An investment of more than 50,000 euros and new charging points

The cars, acquired for a total amount of 52,249.78 euros, are the Renault Zoe ZE 40 Electric model. In addition, the City Council highlights that they have a real autonomy of 300 kilometers, "considered ideal for the island of Lanzarote, where the average daily journey is about 50 kilometers"

In the municipality of Tías there are three electric charging points and the City Council states that the installation of two more points with fast charging is planned this year.
