Tías celebrates the success of the 'I Job Dating Employment Fair' in Puerto del Carmen

More than 600 people and 40 business entities related to personnel placement and academic training met in Puerto del Carmen

The Tías City Council has reported that more than 600 people and 40 business entities related to personnel placement and academic and professional training met throughout the morning of this Wednesday at the I Tías Job Dating Employment Fair, organized by the Tías City Council in the Plaza del Varadero, Puerto del Carmen.

The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León, the Mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the Minister of Employment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo.

José Juan Cruz highlighted the City Council's commitment to "quality, egalitarian and inclusive employment", while speaking of "building bridges" between people who are looking for employment and those companies interested in incorporating talent into their teams. Both the inauguration and the scheduled presentations were interpreted with sign language.

They were accompanied by the Councilor for Employment of the Tías City Council, Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, the General Director of Labor of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Ramón Rodríguez, the president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation, Susana Pérez, the president of the Gehocan association, Sonia Martínez, and the vice president of Gehocan, David Ayala.

Tías, has pointed out that for "companies it has been a unique opportunity to be in contact with future employees and inform about the employee profile they are looking for." Meanwhile, "for candidates it has been a unique opportunity to offer their talent, expand their expectations and see the range of companies and entities in which they can work and train."

Everything was prepared so that both people looking for employment, companies that need professionals to expand their teams, entrepreneurs who want to learn and expand contacts, as well as professionals who want to improve their personal and professional skills could connect and exchange interests.

Both the participating entities and the attendees expressed their assessment of the event, capturing profiles for their companies or agencies, publicizing their business or academic and professional project, as well as promoting and improving professional profiles.

Lecture series

During the day a series of lectures was held to explore key topics such as skills development, job search strategy and labor market trends.

The program began at 9.30 am with the inauguration of the fair and a tour of the area. Subsequently, the Minister of Employment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo, detailed the projects of the island institution in terms of employment, a conference was offered by representatives of the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) called "Know your employment office. Services and opportunities" and further details were given on the "Professional Orientation `DIOP´ CIFP Zonzamas: Learning what really matters: FP 4.0", a presentation by Carmelo Marrero.

During the day a conference was also given by the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote (EUTL) and a presentation by the National University of Distance Education (UNED) under the title "Your public, semi-attendance university without a cut-off mark".

In addition, the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa participated with the conferences "Tour our entrepreneurial itinerary" by Julieta Fernández, coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Projects area; and "Dual FP", by Luis Arencibia, head of the Dual FP program. Later, the executive president of Asolan and the FTL, Susana Pérez, spoke about the "Competitive Regenerative School", followed by a representative of Gehocan, and the event closed with a round table with all the speakers.

The IES Tías and Puerto del Carmen, the CIFP Zonzamas, the UNED, ULPGC Turismo are also added.
