The extraordinary plenary session of the Tías City Council held this Friday approved, at the proposal of the Mayor's Office, to take into consideration the justification report for the provision of public parking services on Roque del Este street in Puerto del Carmen. The agreement was made with the votes in favor of the Government group, formed by PP and CC, and with the abstention of the rest of the opposition, PSOE, Nueva Canarias and Ganemos Lanzarote, since the councilor of San Borondón was absent.
During the plenary session, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Saray Rodríguez, explained that "with this agreement the municipal government takes a further step in a very important issue for our municipality, such as creating a public car park in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen". "Once this economic report has been approved in plenary, which has the relevant technical reports and the favorable report from the Intervention", Rodríguez continues, "it will be submitted to public display for the next 30 days to allow for timely allegations".
The public car park on Roque del Este street will have 186 spaces distributed over 2 floors and responds to the demands not only of residents and businesses in the area, but also of the tourists who visit us. Likewise, as explained by the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, "this project adapts to the Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen as it will improve the competitiveness of our tourist destination and will serve to largely resolve the lack of parking spaces".
Agreement for the hiring of 20 unemployed people
On the other hand, in the plenary session this Friday, the adhesion of the Tías City Council to the framework collaboration agreement between the Canarian Employment Service and the FECAM for the development of useful tasks and social reintegration in the extraordinary social employment program for the period 2016-2017 was also approved, with the votes in favor of the PP and CC and the abstention of the rest of the opposition groups.
Thanks to this agreement, the Tías City Council will hire 20 unemployed people or at risk of social exclusion from the municipality for six months and will contribute with its own funds 60,000 euros in this year and another 108,000 euros more in 2017.
Resignation of socialist councilor
Finally, the plenary also took note of the resignation of the PSOE councilor, Saray Rodríguez Suárez, for work reasons. This resignation will be communicated to the Electoral Board so that the credentials can be sent to Ulpiano Manuel Calero Cabrera, who will replace the socialist councilor.
