The young people of the PP from Lanzarote distance themselves from the support of Antona and ask for "respect" and "responsibility"

The young people of the Popular Party in Lanzarote have publicly requested this Wednesday that "the internal election processes within the party be respected" and have shown their "rejection of any attempt to boycott that may occur against any candidate." The statement comes six days after the press release sent by the New Generations of the PP in the Canary Islands, which on behalf of "the young people who make up the organization" gave their support to Asier Antona as a candidate for the next regional Congress of the party.

Now, New Generations of Lanzarote has appealed "to democratic responsibility" and have defended "the individual freedom that assists all affiliates who want to run for the autonomous presidency, as well as the democracy that must prevail in every election process that takes place within the political formation." In addition, it emphasizes that "any pronouncement that is made in this sense from NNGG of Lanzarote will be preceded, as it always has been, by a prior debate and decision-making from freedom and internal democracy."

In his press release, the island president of NNGG, Juan Rivera, asks for "prudence" and shows "the most absolute respect to each and every one of the candidates who aspire to preside over the party in the islands." According to Rivera, the PP "is a party where democratic values prevail and that is deeply respectful of all those who aspire to lead the project in the future, hence we firmly defend the contribution and debate of ideas as a healthy exercise of enrichment for all." "We young people make this party great and it is time to be united and defend democratic ideas and participation among all without interference of any kind," he warns.

"It is time to focus our support on Mariano Rajoy"

NNGG Lanzarote insists that "now is the time to focus our attention, our effort and our support on Mariano Rajoy, on the next National Congress and on the proposals that are presented within each of the presentations that will be submitted to it." "In this line we are the young people of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and in this line of freedom and respect we will remain throughout the entire congressional process that should also be developed in the Canary Islands," he says.

The statement from the young people of the PP from Lanzarote does not refer to what those "pressures" are that they reject, but the truth is that it comes a few days after the public pronouncement of New Generations of the PP of the Canary Islands. Last Friday, in a press release, NNGG stated that the Regional Board had decided to show its "support" to the current president of the PP Canary Islands management team, Asier Antona, in addition to "requesting him to present himself as a candidate in the next regional Congress to continue his work at the head of the party."

"We want to express our most sincere support and total backing to Asier Antona," said the regional president of the young people, María Amador. In addition, the statement assured that "the young people who make up the organization that she chairs have agreed this afternoon (for last Friday) that Asier Antona is the person who should continue to preside over the PP of the Canary Islands", because "he has shown that he is a capable, open to dialogue and conciliatory politician."
