The Tourism Board reinforces Lanzarote's presence on the internet through agreements with Google

Following the launch of the website [turismolanzarote.com->http://www.turismolanzarote.com], first in Spanish and now also in English, the Tourism Board and the Foreign Promotion Society are committed to increasing the presence of Lanzarote and its portal through tools such as the Google search engine and the technique that allows a page to be located in a good position in the search engine. Lanzarote is thus seeking, through agreements with those responsible for the Google Spain Tourism Division, to promote the island through web positioning.

Another of the marketing campaigns analyzed in the meeting with Google was the possibility of creating a specific Lanzarote channel on Youtube, a space to publish its own content, a new strategy that offers this type of segments to users in exchange for financial compensation.

Continuing with the implementation of technological projects, yesterday the Tourism Board held a meeting with the State Society for the Management of Tourist Information (SEGITUR), whose mission is to develop new technologies related to tourism. In this sense, the Board was asked to integrate a multi-product online platform into the turismolanzarote.com website, a tool that would allow the purchase and sale of products and services over the Internet.

Negotiations with tour operators

With regard to negotiations with tour operators, the Board and the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, held meetings with Jet2 Holidays, a low-cost company focused on the north of England, which currently operates from Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds, and whose representatives proposed adding a new route from the city of Blackpool; as well as with the Swedish tour operator Solresor, which will maintain two weekly flights to Lanzarote from Stockholm and Malmoe-Gotteborg on a shared basis.

On the other hand, a joint promotion agreement with Expedia was studied, the main online travel agency intermediary between the US and the United Kingdom. The Board will make a presentation in Lanzarote aimed at hotel businesses for possible agreements.

Regarding the promotion of the direct public, the Board discussed with the British communication company Titan Outdoor proposals for campaigns in train stations in England with giant screens that bring the excellences of the Lanzarote destination closer.
