María José Docal attended this Tuesday as a counselor of the Tourism Board to the General Assembly held by Asolan in Puerto del Carmen at the invitation of the tourism business association. It was a first contact that served for the counselor to present the promotion program planned for this year and for the next, 2008. The business community asked the Institution for "calm for the island" and the head of the area assured that the intention is to recover the "clean and friendly Lanzarote", which "has always been". "I believe that promotion has been abandoned over the last few years. It's not that it hasn't been done, but it hasn't been done as it should", declared Docal.
The head of the area explained before a packed room - "you can tell things aren't going well because it was full", declared María José Docal ? the actions both external and in destination that the Board will carry out to open new market routes. Actions are planned in new destinations such as Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Canada, but work will also be done to recover visitors from Germany and England.
The Tourism Board's program is presented in order to "sell Lanzarote with a brand". "That visitors leave happy so that they can then explain to their neighbor, friends and relatives that it is worth coming to Lanzarote", explains María José Docal who has positively valued this meeting.
