The works on the Tinajo road will finally cost 2.8 million euros. Its initial budget was 1.7 million, but, according to the Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Sergio Machín, it was necessary to carry out a price review because the initial project was from five years ago and because some modifications were included.
The initial project, included in the 2003-2007 Road Plan, was for resurfacing and changing the slope, but the protection of the slopes with retaining walls, which, according to Machín, has increased the price of the work, was not contemplated. Other reasons for the price increase were the removal of the palm trees and their location.
The Tinajo City Council has requested that a roundabout and a service road be built at the entrance to the municipality to access an industrial area and the sports hall. That work will cost 1.8 million more, and Machín assures that for the moment the work will be finished without that modification and when financing is found it will be carried out.
The councilor assures that the works have never been paralyzed and that the works are expected to be completed within approximately a month and a half, before the pilgrimage of Los Dolores, which is celebrated in mid-September.
