The Tahíche dining room already has 190 registered minors. The children will be divided into two shifts to facilitate the service. The dining room began operating on October 11, and had an investment of close to 600,000 euros, according to the Teguise City Council.
This Wednesday, the Tahíche dining room was visited by the General Director of Educational Planning, Innovation and Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands, Victoria González Ares, as well as the Island Director of Education, Juan Cruz, the Deputy Mayor of Teguise, Domingo Cejas, and the director of CEIP Tahíche, Leonor Hernández, among other authorities.
The minors who attend the dining room are assisted by six monitors and three kitchen workers. The children are between 3 and 12 years old.
The director of the center, Leonor Hernández, points out that "the parents are delighted with the new service." She also adds that the start-up has been very good and they have hardly had any organizational problems with this new service. Of the total number of children who have lunch at the school, only five have a differentiated menu due to allergies.
