The Strike Committee has not accepted the “counteroffer” launched this Tuesday from the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers and states that it has “lost all confidence” in the company's management. For this reason, it has decided to maintain the stoppages and attend the meeting scheduled for this Thursday before the Canary Islands Labor Court, whose mediation was requested by the Minister of Tourism, Echedey Eugenio.
“We will attend one more meeting, with the intention that our demands be met, which are none other than compliance with the Collective Agreement and the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands,” says the Committee, which has already warned that what this body decides is not binding and the workers may not accept it.
In a statement, the union representatives also attack the CEO of the Centers, José Juan Lorenzo, whom they accuse of having “deceived” them. In this regard, they assure that at the meeting of the Board of Directors it became clear that the legal report that Lorenzo has been talking about, regarding the execution of the TSJC ruling, is “non-existent”. And this, according to the Committee, “has created greater distrust” of the workers towards the management.
“Both the Strike Committee and the workers feel deceived by José Juan Lorenzo, for manipulating this conflict with a non-existent legal report on compliance with the TSJC ruling,” they denounce. Furthermore, they maintain that “the irresponsibility of the Management is such that it seems that they do not care that the Centers are closed and they do nothing to try to resolve this conflict.”
