The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has announced that the local Administration has agreed with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the General Directorate of Water, the necessary procedures to receive the item of 1.5 million euros for the municipal sanitation project of the town of Uga.
This agreement has arrived through the figure of Resolution of concession of subsidy, instead of managing it through the agreement route, "since the Resolution is the fastest way to have the money and expedite the execution of the sanitation of the town of Uga", according to the Consistory.
"The project commissioned by Yaiza has already been sent to the Ministry and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote with the detailed description of the works, so now we focus attention on accelerating the formula of concession of the subsidy in which we agree both the State and the City Council", explains Óscar Noda. The subsidy, according to the Consistory, is 1.5 million and the total budget of the project reaches 1.6 million, so the City Council will assume the 100,000 euros of the difference.
The technical proposal consists of the construction of "a new sewage network in the urban center of Uga for its connection to the existing sanitation network in Puerto del Carmen and thus be able to treat wastewater at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Tías". The actions planned in the project will allow "the evacuation and adequate purification of the flows collected from homes and businesses".
The mayor opportunely transferred to the vice president of the Canary Islands, Román Rodríguez, "the need to undertake the sanitation of Uga, among other priority projects for the municipality". "So I appreciate his efforts before the State through the national deputy Pedro Quevedo so that this financial file was reflected in the General State Budgets", he adds.
"The City Council of Yaiza is able to receive subsidies from other administrations and sign agreements if necessary because it is a healthy Institution that is up to date with all its obligations and we have also sent those relevant certifications to the Ministry", concludes Noda.
