With great solemnity, the residents of the picturesque town of Tahíche celebrated the festivity of their Patron Saint Santiago Apóstol.
At seven in the afternoon and with the small hermitage at full capacity, the celebration of the Eucharist began. The mass was presided over by the parish priest of Teguise, Juan Manuel Molina, the songs for this special celebration were performed by Fina and Fefo, who harmonized them with their guitars, with the collaboration of the parishioners.
After the Eucharist, the procession began, headed by the Teguise Music Band 'Teguiband', directed by Professor Tito González, followed by the images of Santiago Apóstol and Nuestra Señora del Carmen. It should be remembered that Tahíche was also a fishing village and in its hermitage, together with the Patron Saints Santiago Apóstol and Santa Ana, Nuestra Señora del Carmen is also venerated.
During the processional route through the main and central streets of the town, the municipal authorities, headed by the mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, together with the parishioners, launched cheers that were answered with applause, in a tradition that the residents of Tahíche keep alive to this day. Upon arriving at the hermitage, the members of the Music Band bid farewell to the patron saint Santiago Apóstol and Nuestra Señora del Carmen with an emotional musical composition, just at the moment when the images crossed the portico of the temple, thus putting the finishing touch to a festive day full of fervor and devotion.
