The PSOE conveys its support “key” to various issues brought to the extraordinary plenary session held this Tuesday at the Spínola Palace in La Villa de Teguise. The socialists report that up to two points of the plenary “needed the decisive vote of the socialist group to see the light, as the government of the Canarian Coalition (CC), Popular Party (PP) and the former Vox councilor did not have the necessary eleven votes - absolute majority of members of the Corporation - for its approval”.
“Today Teguise has a body to promote twinning relations with other towns historically linked to our municipality. Also the nomination of the square in front of the Convent of San Francisco in La Villa as Plaza de Las Américas thanks to our support; without it, they would still remain in the trunk of pending issues”, says socialist leader Marcos Bergaz.
“We demonstrate that we exercise our responsibility as the majority party in the municipality by making it possible for these points to be approved; as we already did last July with an initiative emanating from the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands, which needed the support of the plenary sessions of the different tourist municipalities of the Canary Islands for its processing, and which without the PSOE vote would not have prospered", Bergaz emphasizes.
"Constructive, continues the councilor, with the 150 positive initiatives presented in the previous term; useful, with the dozens of new proposals made in this first year; responsible, for when positive agreements for Teguise and La Graciosa are at stake, and support them from the opposition, without resorting to the low politics of blocking a decision when the government lacks a majority for its approval".
“We are convinced that Teguise needs changes in the way of understanding politics, of managing the municipality, and we apply it to ourselves, no matter how much the government's response is to reject our motions, not allow itself to be helped or fail to comply with different plenary agreements", concludes Bergaz.
Square in honor of José Luis Aparicio
During the plenary session, it was also approved, with the vote in favor of all the political forces of the plenary, with the support of the twenty councilors present, the nomination of a square in the name of Don José Luis Aparicio Morales in the town of Tao.
The proposal, promoted by the Sociedad El Fomento de Tao and the Club de Lucha Tao, highlights his altruistic work and lifelong dedication to the municipality and to Canarian wrestling, “of a gentleman in capital letters of our municipality and vernacular sport who left us with great regret in the middle of the year 2022”, the socialists point out.
The official act of such well-deserved recognition will take place this Friday in the square in front of the wrestling ground Andrés Curbelo 'Pollo de Tao' coinciding with the presentation of the CL Tao teams for the current season.
