The councilors of the PSC-PSOE of Teguise, Pedro Jacinto Martín and Noelia Esther Umpiérrez, requested, through a motion, that a shock cleaning be launched urgently on Famara beach. In the opinion of the socialists, it is a shame that an island that is sold in the tourism market as a Biosphere Reserve and therefore, sensitive to the protection of its natural environment, exhibits huge amounts of garbage, cans, glass, papers or plastics on one of its most emblematic coasts.

According to the councilors, "part of the dirt can be attributed to the waste dragged by marine currents to the shore, but the rest is abandoned on the sand by bathers." To the total lack of trash cans and containers is added the lack of a cleaning brigade with its corresponding machinery, dedicated to the maintenance of the numerous beaches of the municipality, a service they consider a priority and that the Government group seems to have completely ignored to date.

On the other hand, Martín and Umpiérrez pointed out to the officials of the La Villa Town Hall the need to have permanent and not seasonal guards and lifeguards in Famara, "who would ensure both safety on the coast and good practices, the control of loose animals and in general for compliance with municipal ordinances," they explained.

In another order of things, the socialists of Teguise endorsed the demands of the residents of Los Cocoteros, by requesting before the Plenary the habilitation of a socio-cultural center for the urbanization, either newly built or through the rental of some available premises. "The large population that inhabits Los Cocoteros makes it necessary to open a place for neighborhood meeting and gathering and it is about time that the current Government group stops making empty promises and attends to the requests of this community," the councilors of the PSC highlighted.
