The Las Palmas Prosecutor's Office requests four years in prison for a driver for a crime against road safety and four for reckless homicide. It also requests the penalty of deprivation of a driver's license for six years and compensation of 22,000 euros.

The accident for which this sentence is requested occurred in December 2008 on the LZ-40, in the vicinity of Puerto del Carmen. The defendant, Shaun Peter Gill, was driving an Opel rental vehicle, according to the Prosecutor's Office "knowing that his psychophysical abilities were limited for it, due to the prior ingestion of alcoholic beverages." In fact, the blood test carried out on this person tested positive.

According to the Prosecutor's Office's account, he was driving on the two-way road (one lane for each direction) and in a curved, smooth section, level and with good visibility, he collided head-on, when invading the right lane reserved for traffic in the opposite direction" with another Toyota vehicle that was circulating correctly in the Arrecife direction.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Toyota, Juan Nicolás Corujo Martín, his wife Encarnación Navarro Betancort and Eulogia Gonzalez, who occupied the rear seat, died. Krishna Gill, the defendant's wife, who was in the passenger seat of the Opel, also died.

This Tuesday, the oral hearing of the trial was scheduled to be held at the Arrecie Palace of Justice, but the defendant, who is at large, did not appear, and a search and capture order has been issued.
